RAAF Oddity #93 - CAC Winjeel A85-453

via Roger Lambert

CAC Winjeel A85-453, Air Force Week, Point Cook VIC 1964 (Justin Meadows)

Just when we thought that the use of camouflage on Winjeels was well covered (the camouflaged Winjeels used for FAC training being well known) the attached two images of Winjeel A85-453 with Dark Green areas painted over the original Silver airframe taken during Air Force Week at Point Cook VIC in 1964 have surfaced. Note 'fuselage 'Kangaroo' roundels but 'D' type on the wings (this was before the RAAF changed the wing roundels in 1966), Black serials and anti-glare panel. Painted temporarily for Air Week display where it acted a the 'Goodie' in a mock dogfight with a 'Baddie'. We will have the 'Baddie' scheme next time (text Steve - Editor).
